Course Series Overview

"To the scout, the wilderness had to be his home. He had to live in perfect balance and harmony with creation and follow its laws. His skill had to keep him safe and secure in all elements and landscapes, where he would need for nothing. His self-sufficiency would give him the utimate freedom to go as long and as far as he needed, without depending on anything but the earth. Until the scout attained and exceeded this level of skill and ease in living, he would stand out on the land and become a liability. Classic survival skills were not enough; they were just the beginning of that perfection and ultimate invisibility."

Course Description

Escape

As part of the 2010 emphasis on scout skills, Tom has asked Jorge to take his real world experience living in South America and apply it to a workshop to test the scout’s skills. In this workshop we will simulate the “meltdown of society”.  Will you have the skills to get you and your loved ones out?

Through a maze of situations you will be tested; the shock and rawness of disaster will be everywhere. You are surrounded by thousands in the same situation, how will you react, and how will you react to the others who will not react well. What happens when they take your supplies, and use force to get what they want.

In 1994 an earthquake hit Los Angeles; Jorge witnessed the rioting, and chaos. “I know the feeling of loosing a city first hand, it took five days to reestablish control”. So how will you react when looters are running wild in the street, and mayhem is all around?

In this scenario, you will transition from the city streets back to wilderness. Pressure will be applied at every step along the ways. Ambushes will be at every step, and we will take time to teach you how to engage and disengage when caught. You will learn to eat on the run, build smokeless fires, and other skills that could save your life.

This is not your typical Tracker class; you will be living the scenario, with all its physical demands, and emotional strain. If this class is for you then please sign up soon; we are limited to 24 participants. Because of the amount of preparation and required for this class, we will not be able to run this again any time soon.

Prerequisite: Scout Class

Price $550 ($275 Deposit, $275 due two weeks before)

Class Limit: 24

Dates: April 26th-29th, 2010

Instructor: Jorge Brana

Jorge Brana – In the 1970’s, Jorge joined the law enforcement community in South America. At this time South America was targeted by the communists to open new fronts against the West. Fresh out of the academy Jorge found himself in the middle of a gorilla war, training for this job was learning enemy tactics, and to stay alive.

This class is not for everyone. You should be fit; you may be moving many miles each day on foot, and hands and knees. If you have any emotional issues, these will be stretched to their limits; yes there will be fire works, paint ball guns and other scary things that go BOOM in the night. Lastly check your ego at the door, because if the bandits don’t get you, your team will.
